We have, in the not so distant past, signed up for Netflix. Definitely one of the better decisions we've made in 2009. The benefits are fairly obvious ... an endless supply of "flix" that require little retrieval/return effort. On the slate last night was The Express. A biopic about Ernie Davis who was the first African American to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy ... college football's highest honor. Ernie did a lot to keep the Civil Rights movement going in the 60's and he should be remembered fondly because of that. He died tragically of Leukemia before he even played a single down in the NFL. Great great movie.
Fun Fact:
Among the very numerous noble and enviable aspects of Ernie's life was his hometown ... Elmira, NY. Why is this noble and enviable you ask? It just happens to be the place I was born.
Also born in Elmira? Tommy Hilfiger. I'd say that between the three of us (Ernie, Tommy and I) Elmira has done more then it's fair share of contributing to society.

And really? Elmira? Is that anything like Elvira - the song?
